Founder's Story

Hello! My name is Emily and  I am the founder behind Cosette Maternity.

My love for fashion began from a young age when I begged my mother to let me have matching bows with all of my dresses. I always knew that one day I would end up in fashion in some capacity. I received my degree in fashion business from FIT while simultaneously working in bridal. During my time in the alteration’s department at Vera Wang I learned fit and gown construction from some of the most talented seamstresses in the industry. 

Fast forward to a few years later when I was pregnant with my daughter. Cosette Maternity was created out of my own personal experience of becoming a mother. When I was looking for dresses to wear while pregnant and nursing I was very disappointed with what the market had to offer. I wanted a dress that was not only functional and comfortable for a growing belly, but also nursing-friendly and actually pretty to wear.  Since it didn't exist I decided I would design and create it myself.

Cosette means "little one.” It couldn’t have been a better fit for dresses to wear during this stage of motherhood. I am so happy you are here, and I hope that you love our dresses as much as I have loved creating them.
